Last week I had a little shopping spree in town and came home with these goodies from Essence Cosmetics (available in Wilko). I haven't bought any Essence makeup since before Christmas so it was nice to see what new bits they had on store.
I came home with a few bits so decided to do a mini haul/review post today. First up is the New Light Up Your Face Luminizer Palette costing just £3.00. Yup you've read that right three pounds! This gorgeous palette is super pigmented and looks simply stunning on. It's perfect for those who are after a daytime glow but it can be built up for evening makeup. This certainly gives the high-end luminizer palettes a run for their money!!
Next up is the New Forbidden Volume Mascara Rebel Mascara and the New Forbidden Volume Topcoat False Lash Mascara.
The F.V.M Rebel has one of the largest mascara wands I've seen for a very long time. IT IS MASSIVE!! Size aside the mascara wand is a traditional style wand and does work well coating lashes although I've found those little inner eye lashes difficult to 'mascara'. The mascara has quite a wet consistency, however it drys quickly and doesn't transfer after a day of wear nor does it flaky. Removal is easy and doesn't require you to rub the lashes too much. For £3.00 it's certainly worth trying out.
The F.V.Topcoat contains a rich black microfibre formula that you apply over the top of your chosen mascara. I've tested the Topcoat on both Essence and other brands of mascara and have found it does work on any brand. The microfibres are super teeny so I found my lashes didn't look spidery or clumpy. The wand on the Topcoat is a rubber style wand which isn't too big yet distributes the right amount of product onto the lashes. Removal is a little trickier then mascara alone. I found using my eye-makeup remover was the best option. This retails at £2.80.
Let's take a look at the lip products. Essence 2in1 Lipstick & Lipner has been developed to eliminate the need to use two products. The one tube contains 1.5g of product for £2.50, compared to a standard tube of lipstick, at 3.5g. It's important to note this is not a retractable lipstick, what you see if what you get. I bought the colour 02 Vintage Rose which is a rosy pink shade in a satin finish, which is really pretty. The formula is quite firm however it does soften up from the warmth of your lips. I love the idea of the 2in1 yet I'm curious to see over time how this works knowing it will loose the shape of the tip. Time will tell.
I also bought the Balmy Kiss Moisturising Lip Care at £1.30. I have a fair few lip balms, and particularly like ones that have a little hint of colour in them like this one. The colour is 02 Beauty on the go, which leaves a pale pink tint on the lips. This contains Almond Oil so upon application like feels buttery on your lips. What more can I say :)
And finally a face product, Stay All Day 16hr Concealer in 20 Soft Beige. I'm a big fan of cream concealers and this one didn't disappoint. Stay All Day has a good pigmentation which blends easily into the skin to give a flawless finish. I've been testing this out for the last week and although I wouldn't say it lasts 16 hours it certainly does last for the 12 hours I've worn it for. Retailing at £2.50 you'll be silly to not give this a go.
Good to know the concealer lives up to the expectations!
