Last week I was invited by Flahavan’s Irish Oats to join the #PerfectPorridge campaign. The campaign has been started to help shake off the image of porridge oats being a boring breakfast option. I for one have never been keen on porridge for breakfast. As children growing up my sister loved it, she had hers with a dollop of jam on top. I however never really liked it. Now in my 30’s I decided to take the plunge and swap my breakfast cereal for porridge! I also plan to rope the whole household into it so I’ll keep you posted on how that goes :)
This week I’d like to share my first #PerfectPorridge creation. Flahavan’s Irish Orgainic Jumbo Oats can be made on the hob or in the microwave; I made ours on the hob.
For one serving I used ½ cup Flahavan’s Oats with 1 cup of Almond Milk. Put these in a pan and bring to the boil. Once the mixture starts to boil, lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. When my porridge was ready I stirred in ½ teaspoon of Maple Syrup (I have a sweet tooth!) and topped with a handful of Raspberries and Cocoa Nibs.
Hand on heart I have made a personal breakthrough and thoroughly enjoyed my #PerfectPorridge! I’m very aware my porridge topping wasn’t the most creative but it tasted SO good. I also want to point out that I didn’t feel the need to snack between breakfast and lunch. Flahavan’s kept me well fueled all morning which is an improvement on the cereal I would normally have eaten.
I’ll be back next week with another #PerfectPorridge creation. Let me know if you try this weeks and leave a message below if you have some yummy combinations for toppings

Well, that sure looks a million times better than the porridge I always have!
