YSL Fusion Ink Foundation
I picked this up while in Heathrow T5 in August. Yes I’m aware it’s taken me some time to finally sit down and write about this foundation, but you won’t be disappointed!
Lets look at what YSL have to say about the Fusion Ink Foundation -
“FEELS LIKE A FEATHER. WEARS LIKE AN INK. NO MORE COMPROMISE. 24 hours of soft-matte perfection and comfort. Our exclusive fine-as-ink formula perfects the skin yet wears weightlessly all day. Never cakey or heavy. Feel the difference of all day perfection and freedom. SPF 18. Available in 21 shades”
This oozes sophistication, with its stunning gold lid and sleek glass bodied bottle. The lid lifts off to reveal a black twist off top that houses a long application wand. I’m not a huge fan of this style of applicator, my skin can be spot prone so I don’t like the idea of putting it directly on my face. I prefer to put the foundation on the back of my hand or onto a clean foundation brush.
Once I had the Fusion Ink Foundation out of the bottle, I discovered the most wonderful textured liquid ever! Seriously this foundation is smooth and light to the touch, yet it covers so well. I use my foundation brush or fingers to apply foundation, and with this one I found I had to work on one area at a time, as it does dry quite quickly. On my slightly oily/combination skin the foundation was wonderful; it doesn’t clog and sit in my pores, nor does it move around. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone with dry skin though, as I feel it would accentuate the dry skin.
The Fusion Ink shade I have is BR40. The BR stands for Beige Radiant which is a pink undertone. I found this shade was perfect for the summer months, however it’s a touch dark for my winter skin, so I’m going to be rematched for my winter colour when I get the chance.
You’ll find a generous 16 shades to choose from, so you should find your perfect match. Check out the YSL website or visit your local YSL counter for a colour consultation.

Clearing out your Makeup Bag
Clearing out your makeup bag / draw can be hard. I know from my own experience recently it was tough throwing away that expensive (yet hardly used) YSL eyeshadow palette. I had owned it for well over two years and these things don't last. I’ve also found all of my old college textbooks which is the reason I was spurred on to having a clear out. One particular reason for sorting through my makeup is bacteria! It's impossible to get away from, once you start using a product its there. This then transfers to your face, eyes and lips…..yuk! So below I’ve done a breakdown of when it is time to say goodbye to your products.
Mascara - 3 months
Liquid Eyeliner - 6 months
Foundation (Liquid / Cream) - 6 - 12 months
Pencils (Eye / Lip) - 6 - 12 months
Lipgloss - 1 year
Concealer - 1 year
Nail Polish - 2 years
Lipstick - 2 years
Powders / Eyeshadow / Bronzer / Blush - 2 years
This is a general list and is widely available online when you do a search for the life expectancy of makeup products. It’s best to check the packaging as some brands last longer than the list above. I tend to keep a notepad in my makeup draw with the product name and date I’ve opened it. I can then monitor how long I’ve had something knocking around for.
Mascara and liquid liner I never keep past its use by date; it worries me using that sort of product near my eyes if they are harboring germs on them. This rule I use for concealer too as my skin can be spot prone at times. Also a good tip for pencils is to make sure your sharpen them before every use, that way your minimizing the chance of any bacteria transferring from the product.
I hope this was helpful xx

Lord & Berry Crayon Lipstick - Blush
The nude lip has been around for the last season, I’ve finally jumped on the bandwagon in the form of the Lord & Berry Crayon Lipstick in Blush. This particular Crayon Lipstick is from their Shiny range, Lord & Berry also does a Matte range of colours too. Blush is (for me) the perfect natural pinky nude shade. The formula is very good, it feels very smooth on application and is highly pigmented. Plus it’s long lasting which can’t be said about a lot of ‘crayon style’ lipsticks, so straight away this has a massive thumbs up! I also found the formula to be very moisturizing too, I find this is important especially during this time of year when the weather causes me to suffer from chapped lips. The only thing you will need to make sure you have is a jumbo pencil sharpener as you can’t twist up the lipcolor…..it needs sharpening. I picked mine up from the hair and beauty wholesalers I use however you can buy Lord & Berry online via the link below xx
