Craft at Home - Bird

I really enjoy doing craft activities with Little Miss, so I thought I’d start to share some of the things we do at home. Crafting at home with children doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming to prepare; nor do you have to be very arty. Just a few simple shapes and you can create almost anything. We have a bird to show you, which did take me a couple of attempts to get right (but I’m a perfectionist), however I’m very happy with it. I used a simple shape for the ‘feathers’ which I cut out of scrap paper - knowing Little Miss would colour them to then stick on. Here are the steps to make this bird at home.

Step 1 - Cut out your ‘Bird’ from thick paper - I used sugar paper for ours.
Step 2 - Cut out two sizes of ‘feathers’ from scrap paper. I found it easier to concertina my paper then cut my ‘feathers’ . You get more quicker :)
Step 3 - Give the ‘feathers’ and crayons or pens to your little person so they can colour their bird feathers in.

Step 4 - Pop some PVA Glue into a small pot and find a small brush to apply the glue with.
Step 5 - Sit back with a cuppa and let your little person do some sticking
Step 6 - Once all of the feathers are stuck onto the bird (and not your walls or floor), allow to dry before putting on your fridge or giving to a family member.

And there you have it, an hours worth of colouring and glueing for your little ones.

  1. I'll send this idea to my mom :-) She's a kindergarten teacher and always looking for new ideas.
