My new lip product comes in the form of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in 07 Nude-ist. Bourjois describes this as being ‘bold, matte and long lasting’ and I have to say thats fairly accurate from my experience.
I love the look and feel of this lip colour. The packaging is simple, chic and compact. These come with glossy black twist off lids and clear bottle, which you can see the colour of your lip product through. The sponge applicator is just the right size and shape making application quick. Plus the actual product is smooth and velvety.
I’ve found the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet requires you to exfoliate your lips before application, you’ll need to do this if you suffer from dry lips as the product will pick up on any dry skin and look terrible. So long as you exfoliate you’ll discover a super smooth colour that lasts well. Bourjois says the colour has “long lasting 24 hour hold” I wouldn’t say the Velvet lasts 24 hours however after a couple of hours the soft velvet feeling had worn off but I still had a tint of colour on my lips - like a lip stain.
The colour I have is called 07 Nude-ist which isn’t really a nude against my skin tone however its a stunning dusky pink. It does oxidize during wear so you will notice it goes on one shade lighter, this doesn’t bother me as I like both the application colour and the oxidized colour. I’d also wouldn’t say this is a true matte lip product, I found the shade I have to be a semi-matte.
Overall I really like the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet. On me it didn’t last that well so I wouldn’t rely on it for a busy day at work as it needs regular reapplication. I’d certainly use it when doing the school run, popping to the shops and running around after the family. Plus it’s the perfect size for popping in your handbag if you were to use it as your ‘work’ colour.
I picked mine up from my local Boots and it costs £8.99, website details are below xx
What a beauty, this color! It's indeed very wearable, love it.
