This evening after putting our little lady to bed I decided to put together a ‘current bedtime books’ post for my blog. This post contains 3 of the books that little miss asks for before going to sleep. These books are -
Room on the Broom
by Julia Donaldson and Axel Schaffler
The witch and her cat fly happily over forests, rivers and mountains on their broomstick until a stormy wind blows away the witch’s hat, bow and wand. They are retrieved by a dog, a bird and a frog, and each animal asks for a ride on the broom. They climb on, one after the next, until the broom is so heavy that it snaps in two! What will happen next as they tumble into a bog and meet a greedy dragon?
The Gruffalo
by Julia Donaldson and Axel Schaffler
Follow the mouse into the deep dark wood and discover what happens when the quick-thinking mouse comes face to face with an owl, a snake and a hungry gruffalo...
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
by Eric Carle
A hungry caterpillar eats his way through a varied and very large quantity of food until, full at last, he forms a cocoon around himself and goes to sleep.
Although our little lady is over 3 years old now, we still own the cardboard versions of these books. They have lasted very well indeed, and are ideal for children from 18 months onwards as the pages can’t tear; meaning little ones can sit and look at the books unsupervised. We’ve read these books so much we could recite them without even having the book to hand.
Bedtime wouldn’t be the same without a story to read…..over…..and…...over…..and…..over…...
