Meet Elmo & Minnie

Some of you may have noticed that I have a new drop down list called ‘lifestyle’, where you will find all sorts of home and lifestyle posts being added. So with this in mind, today’s post is about our Chihuahua’s Elmo and Minnie. You can find them in ‘Meet Elmo and Minnie’. In that section you will find reviews on all sorts of dog related products, places to go, activities, and much more.
 So here they are…...

*Elmo at 1 year old*

Elmo is our 5 ½ year old Chihuahua, born in August 2008. He has been part of our family since he was 12 weeks old. As a puppy he was tri-colour; predominantly tan with a black mask on his face, black tipped ears, white socks and chest. Over the years though his black facial markings have faded to white, but he has kept his black tipped ears. He isn’t your ‘run of the mill’ Chihuahua, we have always treated him as a dog should be. Elmo refused to ‘dress-up’ even when we lived in Zurich, Switzerland and the temperatures had dropped to below -18! We have managed to convince him coats and waterproofs are OK but even then it takes him a few walks to get used to wearing them. Elmo sees himself as a big dog and has been known to pick confrontations with dogs far bigger than him (the Rhodesian Ridgeback from the Google Office in Zurich was one victim!). He woofs instead of yapping and is a very confident little character.
*Minnie's first day with us*
Minnie is the newest addition to our family. We adopted her as a companion for Elmo when we moved into our new house. Minnie is a 3 years old Chihuahua, born in June 2011. She is a traditional tri-colour Chihuahua; predominately black with white and tan markings. Minnie is very timid compared to Elmo, and was treated more as a lap dog in her previous home (which we never did with Elmo). She has fitted into our family very well and has adapted to family life with us and our daughter. Minnie’s temperament is very much like a puppy; she is a little unsure of the world and how to behave, but our hope is that Elmo will encourage her to become more confident over time.

Well there you are, our Chihuahuas Elmo and Minnie.
You’ll be seeing more of them again soon
