Throwback Thursday #4

"Sal Y Limon Bracelet"

Friday's in Zurich means its time to pick up a copy of the
'Friday 20 Minuten' magazine.

This is a weekly ritual for me, the Friday edition is always full of up to date fashion and beauty articles. The '20 Minuten' is written in German and is very popular amongst expats as it helps with our German language.

After picking up a copy in December I noticed an advert for Sal Y Limon jewellery. My mum was over for a visit, so we figured the next day we'd go into Globus for a look (while in the city for some shopping).

This is the bracelet I came home with. I also bought another one in a different colour for a friend of mine. They come in 4 widths and more choice of colours then I can recall. With such a wide range of  Sal Y Limon  jewellery available in Globus,  it's hard to choose which one to have!!

It's safe to say this is my latest favourite :-)

ELF Large Makeup Brush Holder

Moving house has given me the chance (and a very good excuse) to re-organise and sort all of my hair and beauty items. Blogging has greatly impacted my makeup brush collection; from a set of college brushes during my makeup training days, to now having more than enough to justify having proper storage!

The ELF Large Makeup Holder, is perfect for those of you who have a lot of brushes to store.

In my opinion the sleek black material has a very modern, stylish feel to it. The matte black colour with glossy ‘eyes, lips, face’ writing gives a very luxurious finish. This Makeup Holder would look fabulous displayed on a dressing table, but is also the perfect size and shape to put in a cabinet too.

I think its hard to get the size right when buying online (as I found). I knew I needed the large but just how large was it going to be? It was a relief to find on delivery that the Makeup Holder wasn’t too big. For those of you interested in buying this, here are the approximate dimensions; 10cm x 8cm x 23cm

You get lots of storage space, three compartments to be exact. Perfect for holding not only your makeup brushes but also your eye and lip pencils, lash curlers, tweezers etc etc etc. I have been using the first section for ‘brushes I’m currently using’ and the other two for holding my clean brushes. This seems to be working well and means my clean brushes aren’t contaminated by leftover product from my ‘brushes I’m currently using’.

I’m more than happy with the ELF Large Makeup Holder and would say if you’re looking for a brush storage solution then this is well worth looking into.

Throwback Thursday #3

 "Vera Wang 'Preppy Princess"

I recently had my birthday and was a very lucky girl.

One of my presents was this perfume by Vera Wang called 'Preppy Princess', which was given to me by one of my close friends from the UK.
I'm new to the Vera Wang fragrances and I have to say I can't believe I have never bought one before.......this smells devine!!

The perfume has a fabulous fruity scent with a blend of Jasmine and Honeysuckle, BUT also a smell I couldn't put my finger on until I looked it up online.....a very soft hint of Coconut. This I'm sure sounds like a strange combination but trust me it works wonderfully and I love it.

So that's another perfume to add to my list and I'd like to say a BIG thank-you to my dear friend for giving it to me xxx

Batiste 'Smoothing Conditioning Mist'

As many of you will be aware by now I really like Batiste Dry Shampoo. I’ve tried a lot of brands over the years but continue to go back to Batiste. My all time favorite has to be the XXL Volume Dry Shampoo. I’ve discovered that this one is perfect to use right after washing and styling, to add that extra volume. You can imagine my excitement when I discovered just how big the Batiste range now is!

The one I’m showing you today is the NEW ‘Smoothing Conditioning Mist’.

It’s probably best to tell you about my hair first, as I’ve had a lot cut off - it’s now shoulder length with long layers. I rarely wear it straight since having it cut shorter, preferring it curly/wavy. With my current style this product is great for use after I’ve washed and styled,  as it helps smooth down any flyaway hairs. It’s also good on days when my hair needs a little extra conditioning on the ends between washes. I find the ‘Smoothing Conditioning Mist’ is perfect for giving my hair a much needed boost and zaps life back into my curled hair.

This one also contains Argan Oil, which is my big must for hair care products. In my opinion this dry shampoo works wonders because of the Argan Oil. It smoothes and conditions the hair, while preventing the roots from looking oily. As with all the Batiste range that I’ve tried so far, I’ve not noticed any white residue on my hair after application.

The fragrance reminds me slightly of the XXL Volume Dry Shampoo, but a little more on the floral side. Personally I think it’s a very nice smell; I’ve used it after my hair has picked up food/pollution smells from the atmosphere, and it’s worked wonders.

For more information on the Batiste range check out their website

"H&M RING SET"

"My obsession for costume jewellery will never end!"

I can't help myself, if I'm in the city I just have to pop into H&M to check out their accessories. Ever since I can remember I've loved buying inexpensive bits of jewellery.

This particular day I had some "child free" time (my husband was home with 'Little Miss'), so I decided to pop into Zurich and check out H&M's latest collection.

There I was sitting on the top deck of the train into Zurich; strolling up the escalators at the Main Station; weaving through the crowds on Bahnhofstrasse...and all the while with this strange feeling that I'd lost something....and then it hit me, I'm so used to pushing a stroller around that it always feels a little odd when I get out on my own :)

It was lovely spending a lazy afternoon shopping for something and nothing at all. I finally found some pretty rings in H&M which I just had to have.

.......the peach and gold ring set.

Its a steal at only CHF7.90 considering you're getting 3 rings!

They can be worn alone or together depending on your mood. I like them alone personally, but hey everyone is different.

I would also like to add my 'top tip' for costume jewellery - always put a coat of clear nail polish over to stop the colour wearing off over time.

Have fun with your jewellery!

Denman D3 AnarKitty ‘Ruby’

As I'm sure many of you know I adore Denman Brushes. Being in the trade means I have had the pleasure of using many of their brushes. I have written is the past about my Denman D3 so I'm pleased to tell you about a new trendy limited edition D3 brush that is now out.
"Cult modern artist ‘AnarKitty’ is back with another limited edition Denman D3 design.
Brush experts Denman have teamed up once again with Brit artist Emma Geary AKA ‘AnarKitty’ to create a second special edition D3 hairbrush named ‘Ruby’.
This time, AnarKitty’s art takes us back in time to the roaring 20s era. With influence from the timeless classic ‘The Great Gatsby’, Denman and AnarKitty worked closely together to create an image which displays the fashion and culture of women from the classic ‘flapper girl’ period.
The ‘Ruby’ artwork incorporates the famous flapper dress which women wore to dance the Charleston. A string of pearls have been added to the evening dress design to complete the look and of course the iconic 1920s finger wave hairstyle which has been finished with the Denman crown for a modern twist!"
The Denman D3 AnarKitty ‘Ruby’ brush, £7.50, available to buy from www.denmanbrush.com.

Maylash - Natural Eyelash Serum

I have been given the wonderful opportunity to test out a revolutionary new eyelash serum that is quickly becoming popular across the UK.
Maylash is a growth serum gives you longer, fuller and denser lashes.
Simply apply a thin layer across the top lash line every night. The serum's peptides and vitamins stimulate the roots to make the lashes grow longer and fuller, whilst slowing down the life cycle of the hairs. Maylash says you will see results within the first 6-8 weeks of use. The effect lasts for around 2 months after you finish using it.
Maylash is made from herbs, there's a list of these herbs on the website but here is a quick run down:
Fructus Chebulae Extract - Is an ingredient that reliefs stress to cells, it’s commonly used in Chinese medicine.
Folium Isatidis Extract - Removes toxins and promotes good looking and healthy skin.
He Shou Wu Extract - Darkens and moisturizes the eyelashes.
Nigella Sativa - Renew old cells and promotes follicle regeneration.
Cacumen Platycladi Extract - Improves micro-cycles in the follicle that accelerate hair growth.
Coral Extract - Extends the lifecycle and gives essential minerals to the root of the eyelash.
Purified Water - Keeps your eyes clean and takes away bacteria.

I will be testing this out over the coming weeks and will be back with a full review of the Maylash serum.

You can receive a 30% discount on your bottle of Maylash by entering KME30 at the checkout.

OPI 'Muppets Most Wanted' Spring 2014

According to the press release -

With an all-star cast including Kermit the Frog, Constantine, Ricky Gervais, Miss Piggy, Ty Burrell, Tina Fey and the whole Muppet gang, this family comedy is directed by James Bobin and written by Bobin and Nicholas Stoller. Muppets Most Wanted opens in theaters on March 21, 2014.
“The Muppets are a fun-loving, colorful cast of characters. These eight new nail lacquers were inspired by their latest adventures in Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted, which include a glamorous international stage tour – and lots of surprises,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Executive VP. “Fashionable Miss Piggy is represented through soft pink, peach and pearlescent hues, as well as a frosty sapphire blue – Miss Piggy’s Big Number – to match her fabulous tour gown. The remaining four shades highlight the film’s unexpected elements and include a color-shifting mauve and three sparkle-packed lacquers – including my personal favorite Gaining Mole-mentum, a gold and rose chunky shredded glitter.”

Top Row -
Int’l Crime Caper - To miss this opalescent pearl would be the crime of the century.
Chillin’ Like a Villain - My evil plan… to get away with this precious, sheer nude.
Let’s Do Anything We Want! - There’s no holding back this rose gold glitter with white confetti.
Miss Piggy’s Big Number - Stand back… Miss Piggy’s on sapphire!

Bottom Row -
Kermit Me to Speak - Listen up… I’ve got lots to say about this rosy mauve
I Love Applause - This sheer, sweet pink deserves a standing ovation.
I Love Applause - This sheer, sweet pink deserves a standing ovation.
Muppets World Tour - This white quartz with colorful sparkle is a global sensation.

They all look like fabulous colours and it's nice the collection isn't too big as it can be a little overwhelming when choosing a couple to buy. I personally am looking forward to the nude tones and glitter/confetti polishes. Which do you have your eye on?

My Perfume Collection 2014

I decided to do this post for two reasons.
To show you which perfumes I currently have and will be reviewing over the coming months. And as a record for myself; so I can look back and see which ones I’d like to repurchase (I have a terrible memory)

So here goes………

* Calvin Klein  ‘CK One’
* Dior  ‘Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet’
* Thierry Mugler  ‘Angel’
* DKNY  ‘Red Delicious’
* DKNY  ‘Be Delicious’
* Bruno Banani  ‘Not For Everyone’
* Chloe ‘Original’
* Giorgio Armani  ‘Si’
* Jimmy Choo  Flash’
* Versace  ‘Red Jeans’

I’m not sure whether this is a lot of perfume for one person to own, or if there are more people out there like me. The perfume I choose on any given day or evening will depend on many factors (mood, event, style of clothes, time of day, etc).

Do you have any from my current list? Do you have as many perfumes or am I on my own??
