Before I Sleep - Toddler Series #1

A toddlers bedtime routine is very important.
Today I want to tell you about our routine before Little Miss goes to bed.

Playtime with daddy is followed by a nappy change and pj’s.

We then find somewhere comfortable to sit, and its time for milk. We opted give Little Miss formula as she was a very low birth weight (2.1kg), and we felt she would benefit from staying on it as long as possible. This is normally a 240ml bottle; sometimes she drinks all of it, other times she’ll leave a little. The brand we use is SMA Toddler Milk.

Next its time to relax. We love to sit and read a book, and Little Miss’s current favourites are;

*Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler
*The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler
*The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Once we have read (and re-read) the books, its pretty much 7pm and time for bed. Naturally we have to make sure Teddy is ready for bed too, then Little Miss snuggles down and falls asleep.

7:30am our day starts again…………….

La Sultane de Sada - Body Lotion

This was one of my treats which I received in my Birch Box back in March (link). Its taken me awhile to get around to using this body lotion. Mainly due to having several open bottles I wanted to finish before opening another.

So lets get this show on the road.....

“The ‘La Sultane de Saba Body Lotion’ is a luxurious treat for the skin which is inspired by the ancient beauty rituals of Asia and the Orient. Rich with Argan Oil, this lotion sinks into the skin leaving it feeling moisturised.”
La Sultane de Saba Body Lotion also contains the following; Orange Blossom, Oriental Amber, Jasmine Flower, Green Tea with Ginger, Rose, and Vanilla; all of which leave you with a subtle hint of fragrance.

I found this body lotion to be incredibly moisturising. Although I only had a small bottle, it lasted extreamly well as I only needed a small amount. For me it also worked wonders on any dry skin I had on my elbows and knees, which I can only put down to the Argan Oil (as this is the first product I have used that contains it)

Did anyone else use this body lotion from the March Birch Box?
If so, what did you think of it?

Real Techniques Duo-Fibre Collection

As you may recall, I bought myself the Real Techniques Core Collection and loved it. So naturally I also decided to buy the Duo-Fibre Brush Collection.

The Duo-Fibre collection consists of a Face Brush, Contour Brush and Eye Brush. These brushes are designed much like the orginal collection, but these look and feel more stylish. They have sleek white handles with colour coded writing on them (see picture)

These have been designed as a multi-tasking brush set. Each brush can be used to apply cream, liquid or powder makeup, leaving you with a flawless finish.
I really like these brushes, yet I have to say I don’t use them the same way I use my Core Collection brushes.

The Face Brush - I initially used this for loose finishing powder, but was disappointed with the result. It seemed to drop much of the powder everywhere but on my face. I opted to use this brush for my bronzer instead, and for this it works a treat. Its perfect for applying a small amount of colour over my cheeks, temples, and nose.

The Contour Brush - Sadly another disappointment. I found this brush hard to contour with and blend the colour out as I do with my (Core Collection) Contour Brush. I changed technique and now use it as a Highlighter Brush. It holds the right amount of product to add a highlight shimmer over the tops of my cheeks.

The Eye Brush -  This brush came up trumps for me. I have been using a lot of cream eyeshadows lately, and this brush is ideal for blending out harsh lines that can occur with cream eye shadows. I’ve not tried this with regular eyeshadows, but I expect there could be a lot of ‘product fall out’ similar to other brushes in this collection.

Have you bought the Real Techniques Duo-Fibre Collection?
If yes what do you think of them?

TIGI Bedhead - Recharge

“For those that want supercharged shine”

TIGI Bed Head Recharge Shampoo and Conditioner  are anti-oxidant rich hair products, which remove pollutants and product build-up, help maintain the hair's health, and give it a smooth super shiny reflective finish.

TIGI Bed Head Recharge has a fragrance which reminds me of red berries; its lovely and fruity but not in an overpowering way.
I think these are amazing. My hair is quite fine and flat, so it was perfect for giving my hair a much needed boost.  You may have noticed that I featured these on my ‘Latest Haircare Routine’ video on YouTube. If not then go check it out :-)
Available at TIGI hair salons or online at Feel Unique (LINK)

RRP from £10.95

Makeup of the Day

Today I wanted to show you this very simple eye makeup look.

I have recently rediscovered my love for the Models Own Shimmer Pencil’s. My current favourite is ‘Peacock Green’ which I wear on my lower lash line.

Here’s how I created this look….

Firstly I applied my MUA Eyeshadow Primer over the entire eyelid. I followed this with shade 2 in the MUA ‘Undressed’ Palette, which I also blended over the entire eyelid (up to  the crease). Next I carefully penciled under my lower lash line with the Models Own Shimmer Pencil, and used the smudger end to soften the line so it didn’t look too harsh. For the mascara, I opted for Maybelline’s The Rocket Volume; two coats were sufficient.

Clinique - Take the day off makeup remover

- For lids, lashes and lips

I invested in a waterproof mascara a few months back when my sister got married.
The mascara is great (and I will talk more about it another day), however like all waterproof mascaras the removal is a problem!

Now don’t get me wrong, I understand you have to use a makeup remover for waterproof mascara, but I have been unable to find one that doesn’t leave my skin feeling super greasy!

Until now………

Clinique's ‘Take the day off’ makeup remover for lids, lashes and lips’ is a two phase makeup remover that gently lifts off  waterproof and long-wear makeup.

To use simply give the bottle a good shake (which combines both parts of the solution), saturate a cotton pad, then gently  wipe over the area of makeup you wish to remove - in my case the eye area.

Clinique say this makeup remover is non-irritating, non-stinging, plus it’s suitable for contact lense wearers.

I love this product and will definitely be buying a full size bottle when this runs out. It has totally impressed me :-)

RRP £17 (125ml)

Mark Hill - Bad Girl Glam Wicked Waver

I do love a new hair tool and when I spotted this on offer in Boots it just had to be mine!

The Mark Hill Bad Girl Glam Wicked Waver (or as I will now refer to it ‘Wicked Waver’) looks a little odd compared to regular wave wands, but as some would say “there is method in the madness”.

The Body Shop - Coconut Body Scrub

I do like a bit of self-tan occasionally, and exfoliating is an important part of my tanning routine.

This one by The Body Shop is my current ‘go-to’ exfoliating scrub.

The Coconut Body Scrub is a beautiful consistency that works well over the skin; some that I have used in the past feel like they slip off the skin and end up down the plughole! It doesn’t feel too gritty either considering the abrasive ingredient is coconut shell (rather than salts like some exfoliators).

I’ve read several reviews on The Body Shop website where people have commented that  the smell is too strong. I have to say I disagree. For my nose it is perfect; I like coconut scented products and love to be able to smell it on my skin after showering/moisturising  - it reminds me of the summer months and holidays.

This retails at £12.50 for a 200ml tub, which I feel is good value as this product really does go a long way.
I also found out that this is one of The Body Shop’s best selling products (which you can see on their website)

Nails Inc London - You're A Peach

It's Monday again and what better way to start the week then a nail polish post (better known as 'Nails of the Day' #NOTD).

This is Nails Inc - You're a Peach.

I love this pretty peach. It has the perfect amount warmth in, without looking too orange; yet the colour also has a pastal feel to it.

This shade was a free gift with June's In Style Magazine. Although this colour is not available to buy online they do have some very close peach tones you might want to have a look at :-)
