As some of you may know my husband is Mediterranean, making this one of the recipes I make on a regular basis.
Hummus (pronounced "hum-mus") is quick and simple to make, and literally takes just a few minutes to prepare.
The recipe I want to show you is a basic one I work from. You can add more lemon, garlic or tahini to your own taste.
You will need the following, together with a food processor to blend the ingredients together;
* Tinned chickpeas
* Lemons
* Fresh Garlic
*Tahini (Pureed sesame seed paste)
* Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Step 1 -
Take one clove of garlic and crush into your food processor.
Step 2 -
Juice 1 lemon and add to the garlic.
Step 3 -
Drain the chickpeas (keep the liquid in a jug, you can add a little of this later if you want a smoother texture Hummus). Put the drained chickpeas into the food processor.
Step 4 -
Add one table spoon of Tahini into the food processor along with a drizzle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Step 5 -
The fun bit.......Wizz it all together.
I like to keep mine a little grainy; you can blend it until completely smooth by adding a little of the liquid you kept in step 3.
Hummus can be served with breadsticks, olives, carrots sticks, warm pitta breads - basically what ever you desire! You can also sprinkle a little paprika on for a warm kick.
Enjoy xx
Looks good! I have never tried making this myself, but it looks doable :-)
