Time to play in the garden....

The Spring is here and we're all heading outside to play.

Now our 'Little Miss' is 16 months and walking I thought it would be a good idea to buy her a 'Bucket and Spade Set'. After all she loves toddling around picking up leaves (and pulling at my plants!)

This set is from Migros and was a mere 5,90CHF.
I think its a good size for a toddler and having compared it to some of the others in the store this one is the most robust. Plus it comes with all these extras (see picture).

Why not treat your little one and have some garden fun!!

Lazy Day Bun

Create this fantastic look with minimal effort!

I was having a very lazy day with my hair the other week. We'd just arrived home from a week visiting in the UK, had a ton of stuff to unpack, and I just didn't have the time or energy to mess about perfecting my hair.

So with what energy I had I simply popped my hair up into a bun and added my bright red bow clip and 'voila' simple chic hair with minimal fuss.

My husband commented on how nice it looked so I though it would be good to add it to my blog for you to all see. Hope you like it and have a go with some accessories yourself.

Happy Hair Days

Get the look...

We're stuck at home, the weather is horrid so I thought I'd bring you this quick post.
So lets start from the top.....

Hair - Really should have been washed (I'm an every other day girl) but as I'm not going anywhere I thought I'd put it up. Here is my Ballerina Style Bun. I always use a bun-ring for this as my hair is fine so this gives it a boost. The hair-band keeps my fringe out of the way and gives a clean tidy appearance.

Makeup - Keeping it super natural today.

  • BB cream for the based (I have a new one I'll be reviewing very soon so the name is secret).
  • MAC Select Cover-up for under the eyes
  • ARTDECO All-in-one Mascara in 08
  • Vaseline Lip Therapy Aloe for the lips

My top - Is a new one I picked up in the River Island Sale back in March. It was a bargain at £7 so couldn't not buy it!!!

I love the deep red colour and faux leather pockets that adds a nice detail. Its not a colour I normally go for but I'm pretty happy with it.

Nails - Painted yesterday, this is one from the Orly Romance Collection. The shade is Jealous, Much? and is a fabulous pastel green colour. This would suit someone with pale skin as this is a 'cool' tone green.

And there you have it. I hope your having a great day what ever your doing. Be back soon xx

Here is another L'Oreal Paris treat.

Let me introduce you to Color Infaillible Eyeshadow.

I have had this for a while now after winning a set of make-up in one of L'Oreal's online competitions. And I'm sorry to say I have only just gotten round to trying it...tut-tut!
015 Flashback Silver
The product itself looks like a powder - yet it applies just like a cream. I'm very impressed with how easy it was to work with, and found the eyeshadow very good for building up colour for a more intense shimmery look (which is perfect for a night out). Or simply apply thinly for a more softer subtle day look.
In the Color Infaillible range there are 14 shades to choose from so I'm certain there is one for you :-)

Blue Mascara - Nude Lips

I have recently joined Twitter for posting quick and simply updates on all things hair, beauty and mummy, as well as my general ramblings. For those of you following you'll know I posted a photo of my new blue mascara this morning.......and here it is!

This is by a company called Makeup Factory and is the 'All in One' Mascara (Shade 8)

This mascara lengthens and conditions the lashes, whilst adding vivid colour.

I have teamed this with a blue eyeshadow to bring the colour out more. As well as applying a nude lipgloss, I felt a colour would be too much.

So there you have it. Blue mascara doesn't have to be a reminder of the 1980's!!!!

Have you worn a coloured mascara?
Blue, Green or maybe Purple?

Let me know your thoughts :-)

Vera Wang 'Preppy Princess'

I recently had my birthday and was a very lucky girl.

One of my presents was this perfume by Vera Wang called 'Preppy Princess', which was given to me by one of my close friends from the UK.
I'm new to the Vera Wang fragrances and I have to say I can't believe I have never bought one before.......this smells devine!!

The perfume has a fabulous fruity scent with a blend of Jasmine and Honeysuckle, BUT also a smell I couldn't put my finger on until I looked it up online.....a very soft hint of Coconut. This I'm sure sounds like a strange combination but trust me it works wonderfully and I love it.

So that's another perfume to add to my list and I'd like to say a BIG thank-you to my dear friend for giving it to me xxx

New swimwear

With summer just around the corner, I've been thinking about swim wear so I can take Little Miss for a  splash about in the water.

Pre-Mummy status we spent time living in Gibralter. What with all that sun, sea, and “Tinto de Verano”, the smaller the bikini was the better!

Since becoming a Mummy though I'm a little more self conscious of my figure, and I've found it harder to get myself decent swim wear.

So during my last stay in the UK my mission was to find a nice one piece that;
  • covered my tummy...well at least a little :)
  • had a little padding on the bust area...lets face no amount a exercise will plump those back up again!
  • still make me feel like a Yummy Mummy.
After some considerable searching (dragging my poor Mum around the shops) we ended up in New Look. Once I'd finished "Umm-ing" and "Ah-ing" lots I settled on this one. For me it's the perfect mix of bikini and swimsuit.

New Look
Destination Collection
£22.99

These images are from the New Look website as I'm sure you don't want to see me don my swimsuit.

I hope you find your perfect swim wear for this Summer

Want to know.......

about my latest hand-cream discovery!
I have just a few different hand creams I like, and I very rarely change them. As some of you will agree, once you find one that works well on your hands, you tend to stick with it. I was given this little gem by my manicurist, who insisted I take it to try. So here I am 3 weeks later writing about this hand-cream that I have completely fallen for!

This cream is by a company called Pinnacle who I admit are new to me (some of my American readers will be familiar with the company I'm sure). They make all sorts of yummy smelling lotions that contain rich oils and natural extracts to help lock in the moisture, while protecting your skin from  harsh environmental conditions.

For my skin the Hand & Body lotion was perfect. It soaked in quite quickly, leaving no greasy residue and left a 'good enough to eat' smell on my skin. I have the Peachy Vanilla which is lovely (even my husband likes it), but if you're not a fan of that particular scent then they also do Sweet Almond and Kiwi & Hemp.

I'll be getting myself another when this bottle runs out, and at CHF22 you can't go wrong with this hand cream!

Little Miss Summer hats

Super quick post for my mummy friends and readers in Switzerland.

If like me you like to be organised, you'll be interested to know Migros now has their Children's Summer range available in store. Which includes these pretty Summer hats for little ones. These particular ones both have ties on to stop them being pulled off, plus a full rim to keep the sun off their delicate skin.

I think these are a great buy at just CHF10 each.

All we need now is some sunshine :-)

Tried and Tested

This is L'oreal Professional's Mythic Oil.

My L'Oreal prize has arrived and I have been bursting to try it out...........

So far I really like this product. You simply apply 2 pumps of Mythic Oil into wet or dry hair then style as normal. It doesn't seem to weigh my hair down or make it feel 'producty'. Plus this smells very pleasant, which is always on my priority list for hair products (I do prefer light soft smells to anything strong)
.

L'Oreal Professional says - "Enriched with a special blend of avocado and grape seed oil, this lightweight oil cares and pampers all hair types. Nourishing even the finest hair, the formula leaves hair looking shiny, feeling nourished and supple."

RRP £13.50

A day at home!

There is nothing better then a lazy day at home on the sofa when your pregnant!

With this in mind here was what I wore when I was expecting our Little Miss. Comfortable, soft fabrics that I layered up when I felt chilly but still looked tidy in-case someone came over unexpectedly.

A day at home!

So all you have to do now is put your feet up and relax,

Eye, Eye. Eye Liner

I have never had much success with Eyeliner, whether I used Kohl or Liquid it has never been right for me.

So I was pleasantly surprised to find this little gem, Maybelline Gel Eyeliner. I bought this in 01 Intense Black as I tend to wear the same colour mascara.

This is super easy to use as it comes with a 'professional style' eyeliner brush. The gel its self is so soft and smooth to work with you are bound to have perfect results everytime. I wore this the whole day, it didn't smudge or wear-off, AND it washed off really quickly with my normal cleanser.

Try it yourself, I think you'll also be pleasantly surprised at how
great this eyeliner really is.......

RRP - CHF13.50

Available in 4 shades

Fish Tail Braid

Fishtail Plaits are simple to create and proving quite popular at the moment.
I recreated this look on my friends hair (see image above)  The  length of her hair is perfect for showing off how lovely Fishtail Plaits look.

The one I recreated was demonstrated on L'Oreal Professional's YouTube page  by Jonathan Soons. The thing that caught my eye about this particular video is that it is done on curly hair. I think this makes a nice change from the normal straight hair styles we so often see.

Please check out the link above to see exactly how its done and try it yourself......

The perfect make-up base

Some of you may recall I wrote about a makeup primer by MAC (on KME Hair and Beauty), so you may be wondering "Why tell us about another?"

Well this one was sent to me by L'Oreal Paris, as part of a set of products I had won. After giving it a try for a while, I decided it was worth telling you about :)

From L'Oreal Paris's "Studio Secrets Professional" range

"My little pot of magic"

Initially this primer looks like any other, with its soft scent and pale pink colour. However, once you dip your finger in the pot you'll discover a light mousse  style cream, which evens out your skin tone and leaves it with a healthy fresh glow.

My skin (which can be a little spot prone) was left looking healthy with a dewy finish, and I didn't feel the need to reach for my foundation after application.

The winning factor for me with this primer is that it doesn't contain any visible shimmer.

I love it and will defiantly buy a pot when I finish this one!

New York City Ballet

O.P.I has launched their new Limited Edition Collection of polishes.

This weekend I discovered that the O.P.I New York City Ballet Collection has been released.....YAY!
I'm a massive O.P.I fan so I was super pleased to find these in my local stockist. The best thing was, the two colours I had on my wishlist were both in stock.

3 coats applied

One of the colours I bought was 'You Callin' Me a Lyre' which is a pale pinky/peach creme polish.
When I applied this I found one coat gave my nails a lovely fresh, natural glass-like effect. Its very sheer so my advice would be to apply 3 coats, as I have on the picture. This will show up how great the soft pinky/peach colour really is.

The other colour I bought is called 'Pirouette My Whistle'. This was top on my list of shades and I was lucky enough to buy the last one (phew).
This one is the only glitter the in the collection and can be used as a top coat on top of the other 5 shades. I've simply applied this over my natural nails so you can see the multi-dimension glitters in the polish. This really is a beautiful nail polish.

Downside is that photos just don't do it justice!!
New York City Ballet Collection also includes:
*Barre My Soul - Sheer Beige
*Don't Touch my Tutu! - Shimmer White
*Care to Danse? - Lilac
*My Pointe Exactly - Sheer Gray

If you love soft shades you will love these. Its just a case of deciding which ones to buy ;-)

Sal Y Limon Bracelet

Friday's in Zurich means its time to pick up a copy of the
'Friday 20 Minuten' magazine.

This is a weekly ritual for me, the Friday edition is always full of up to date fashion and beauty articles. The '20 Minuten' is written in German and is very popular amongst expats as it helps with our German language.

After picking up a copy in December I noticed an advert for Sal Y Limon jewellery. My mum was over for a visit, so we figured the next day we'd go into Globus for a look (while in the city for some shopping).

This is the bracelet I came home with. I also bought another one in a different colour for a friend of mine. They come in 4 widths and more choice of colours then I can recall. With such a wide range of  Sal Y Limon  jewellery available in Globus,  it's hard to choose which one to have!!

It's safe to say this is my latest favourite :-)

Lazy Spring Day

I love the spring.......The flowers are starting to bud in the garden and the sun is starting to peek out from behind the clouds.

Below is my perfect outfit for the spring when I am out with our Little Miss, maybe teamed with a blazer to keep the chill off my arms.
I love the flower pattern on the T-shirt. its nice and girlie against the boyfriend cut jeans.
